Centro de Niños y Padres at Cal State L.A. Awarded $1,000 Grant
Los Angeles, CA -- April 11, 1997 -- Cal State L.A.'s Centro de Niños y Padres, a program for young children and their families, has recently received a $1,000 grant from the Santa Anita Foundation to support the services of the center. The gift check was presented to Maria Moberg, administrator, by the Foundation President Richard Call and Vice President Richard N. Mackay following a luncheon at the Santa Anita Race Track.
Centro de Niños y Padres, part of the division of Special Education at Cal State L.A., provides early home and school intervention for children from birth to three years of age who are identified by the Regional Center as having developmental disabilities and children who are at risk. Its goal is to provide family-focused services that will enhance the child's overall development and the quality of family life.
The Santa Anita Foundation is committed to supporting community programs such as Centro de Niños y Padres. Net proceeds from five racing days at the Santa Anita Race Track go to the Foundation whose directors make the allocation. Since 1945, the Foundation has distributed more than $26 million to charitable causes.
