Cal State L.A. Alumnus Geller Cited
for Business Revitalization Efforts

Los Angeles, CA- California State University, Los Angeles' 1999 Distinguished Alumnus Marshall Geller, who received his B.S. in Business Administration from Cal State L.A. in 1961, was recently named by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of a handful of resourceful Angelenos who are rescuing "at-risk" new media businesses. The LABJ named Geller among 20 top "Roadkill Warriors" who the magazine identified as successfully revitalizing businesses in the dot-com meltdown.

Geller is chairman and chief executive officer of Geller and Friend Capital Partners, Inc., and Brighton Venture Partners. The LABJ selected Geller for his success as the "catalyst for the recent restructuring of Drkoop.com Inc.," the floundering health Web site business named for the former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everet Koop. According to the LABJ, Geller assembled the resources, formed a new management team, and completed the restructuring. This is one of the first major reconstructions of a well-known dot-com company in the U.S.

"Marshall Geller continues to bring great distinction to himself and to our business college," said G. Timothy Haight, dean of the College of Business and Economics. "We are all proud of his outstanding accomplishments."

Geller, a Los Angeles resident, is a board member of several public and private corporations and is a member of the Cal State L.A. College of Business and Economics' Dean's Advisory Council.
