Los Angeles World Airports’ Roger Johnson garners ‘Engineer of the Year Award’ during gala at Cal State L.A.

Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) Deputy Executive Director of Airports Development Roger A. Johnson was recently honored at Cal State L.A. with the “Engineer of the Year Award” during the 3rd annual Greater Los Angeles Engineer of the Year Gala. The event is hosted by the Friends of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology

The award honors those who lead an engineering group in a major company or public agency that is making a significant positive impact on the Los Angeles economy.  Johnson was honored with nine other awardees, including U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.

Johnson was recognized for his work as the program director for LAWA’s Airports Development Group.  LAWA, a department of the City of Los Angeles, is in the midst of a $4.1 billion modernization of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  In this role, Johnson is responsible for all the major construction projects at LAX, as well as at L.A./Ontario International Airport and Van Nuys Airport.

Johnson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in engineering at Cal Poly Pomona. He has more than 30 years of experience in planning, construction, environmental and construction management, civil and environmental engineering.
