Assessment 23-24: Counseling and Psychological Services

Student Health Center & CAPS Patient Satisfaction Survey 2023 – 24

176 students participated.

The Student Health Center (SHC) & CAPS Patient Satisfaction Survey aligns with Cal State LA's community engagement domain by providing insights into students' experiences with mental health services and their impact on well-being and academic success. This data helps foster a supportive university community, enhancing student engagement and success.

Of the 176 participants in the 2023-2024 Student Health Center Patient Satisfaction Survey (questions 1-10 related to CAPS):

  • 74% felt their counselor helped them succeed academically.
  • 79.49% preferred in-person CAPS counseling visits.
  • 91.67% preferred in-person general health center services.

The data will be shared among the division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, SHC administration and the CAPS team. We plan to discuss the findings, discuss best practices, and next steps in how to address the ongoing demand for in-person sessions while still providing telehealth services/accessibility (as there is still a demand for it).
