There are many complexities involved in achieving the long-term scientific and broadening participation goals of CATSUS. For this reason, the collective impact (CI) approach has been adopted to enhance channels of communication, to bring together projects and individuals with similar goals, and to share resources. With the CI approach, CATSUS’ Education, Outreach, and Policy-Informing (EOPI) component focuses on: (a) strengthening current programs and partnerships, and implementing new strategies to recruit, train and mentor Cal State LA students; (b) enhancing partnerships with Cal State LA’s K-12 and community college outreach programs; (c) working with our Sikand SITI-Center to increase the impact of the Center’s research and education outcomes by sharing findings that inform evidence-based planning and policy-making; and (d) disseminating outcomes through STEM-NET of the entire CSU system, which can be a catalyst for collaboration with other CSU campuses, policy-makers, government, and industry.
