Employee Activity and/or Laboratory Safety Training

All Cal State LA laboratory workers who either assist, provide technical support, conduct research, or teach activity-based and/or laboratory courses as a part of their job description must complete the minimum safety training*. Below is a list of the minimum training for working in an activity-based or laboratory workplace, for any additional hazards, please take the "Additional Safety Training" based on your area's Hazard Assessment using our Risk and Safety Solutions (RSS) platform. 

Additionally, RMEHS requires all activity-based areas and/or laboratories to have an updated hazard assessment and chemical inventory (if applicable).

Research areas must also include all additional working members in their hazard assessment group on the RSS platform. All working members listed in the research group in RSS need to acknowledge the hazard assessment before starting any work in the laboratory. *Please note that student researchers who are PAID by the University are considered Cal State LA employees and can use CSULearn for their training requirements. Student researchers who are NOT paid are still considered students and must use the Student Learning Bridge for their training requirements. It is the responsibility of the PI or responsible person(s) that conduct research to have their student researchers take the Minimum Safety Training.

Additional Safety Training

The following safety training information is in addition to the required minimum laboratory safety training. The additional safety training is based on the additional hazards on the laboratory Hazard Assessment using our Risk and Safety Solutions (RSS) platform. It is important to complete the Hazard Assessment and update your Chemical Inventory to determine the types of additional training needed.
