Established in 2025, the Presidential Award is the premier recognition given at Commencement by the University President, honoring an individual who propels Cal State LA’s mission through exceptional achievement, leadership, and stewardship of our community, serving as an ambassador and champion of the University.
- Open to current graduating students, alumni, faculty, staff, or community leaders whose contributions significantly impact Cal State LA.
- Nominees must demonstrate a sustained commitment to advancing the university’s mission, vision, and values.
- Nominees should embody leadership, service, and excellence, and reflect positively on the university.
Nominees will be evaluated by the University President on the following dimensions:
- Achievement
- Significant accomplishments in academic, professional, or civic life.
- Recognition at regional, national, or international levels that brings distinction to Cal State LA.
- Leadership
- Demonstrated leadership that has positively influenced the university community.
- Advocacy for equity, inclusion, and student success.
- Support & Advocacy
- Evidence of being an avid supporter and ambassador for Cal State LA (through mentorship, philanthropy, community partnerships, or public advocacy).
- Strengthened the university’s visibility and reputation.
