Position:
Teaching Associate for Division of Natural Science

Minimum Qualifications:
Degree-seeking graduate student in the College of Natural & Social Sciences. Teaching Associates must be currently admitted to a CSULA graduate degree program and enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the appointment period. The successful applicant will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Familiarity with the Cal State LA campus and resources (e.g., advising, tutoring, etc.) for students.
2) Evidence of good oral and written communication skills
3) Evidence of potential to work with a first-generation student population.
Hiring Criteria:
The successful applicant should be an effective writer and communicator, possess basic technology competencies, have a compatible schedule with course to be assisted, and a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0. They should be familiar with the Cal State LA campus and resources and demonstrate commitment to student success.
Duties:
Under supervision of the NSS Associate Dean and NSS 1001 Course coordinator, successful candidates will teach a section of NSS 1001. They will be required to meet with the Associate Dean/Course coordinator and attend the Course Coordinator’s office hours as needed.
Salary:
Current Teaching Assistant Academic Year range, $2,943-$6,891. This appointment will be at a .2 timebase (8 hours per week).
Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Standard documentation includes: letter of application, curriculum vita, GET print-out verifying enrollment in a program of graduate study in any Department with the College of NSS, three letters of recommendation, and the University’s Application for Academic Employment Form. Recommendation forms may be requested from the English Department.
