Teaching Associate for lectures and labs in the following courses:

GEOG 1550 Human Geography

GEOG 1600 Physical Geography

GEOG 1700 Meteorology

GEOL 1500 Earth Revealed

GEOL 1550 Oceanography

GEOL 1580 Natural Disasters

Starting Date:

On-going. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Geological Sciences to perform instruction. Teaching associates must be registered in a CSU graduate degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the teaching associate appointment period. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, have the potential for excellent teaching, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hiring Criteria:

Appointments as a Graduate Assistant are made based on evidence of academic achievement, potential for academic success and expressed interest in, and availability for, performing the described duties of a Graduate Assistant.

Duties:

Under supervision of faculty, successful candidates will teach laboratory sections of undergraduate Earth Revealed, Oceanography, Natural Disasters lectures or labs. They may be required to attend weekly meetings with the lab coordinator for the class and they may be expected to attend some lectures associated with labs that they are teaching.
 

Salary:

Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
