Minimum Qualifications:
Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Geosciences and Environment to perform computer lab assistance. Graduate Assistants must be registered in a CSU graduate degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the appointment period. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of general geology or oceanography or natural disaster laboratory teaching materials and equipment. Completion of introductory geology and geology related courses.
Hiring Criteria:
Appointments as a Graduate Assistant are made based on evidence of academic achievement, potential for academic success and expressed interest in, and availability for, performing the described duties of a Graduate Assistant.
Duties:
Under the general supervision of the faculty member, the Graduate Assistant will provide assistance in preparing laboratory materials used in Earth Revealed, or Oceanography, or Natural Disasters laboratory courses. Primary duties will include assisting faculty with preparation of course materials, organizing the storage of materials, preparing materials for instruction, assisting with demonstrations, tutoring of students and replacement and repair of missing or broken teaching items as needed. Other duties may include classroom clean-up and design and construction of mineral, rock, and fossil displays. May perform clerical or other routine tasks such as grading laboratory exercises and examinations, recording grades, etc. Some supervision of non-GE laboratory sections or students may be required on Saturdays.
Salary:
Current Graduate Assistant rate for an average of 20 hours per week.
