Position:

Teaching Associate in laboratory sections of courses in both Biology and Microbiology.

Starting Date:

On-going. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Biological Science, or closely related field, from an accredited institution of higher education is required. Teaching Associates must be registered in a CSU graduate degree program and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of that graduate degree during the appointment period. Applications should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment, and have good oral and written communication skills.

Appropriate doctoral or terminal degree

Hiring Criteria:

Priority will be given to individuals with have excellent and written communication skills.

Duties:

Under supervision of faculty, successful candidates will teach laboratory sections of undergraduate biology and microbiology labs. They will be required to attend weekly meetings with the lab coordinator for the class and they may be expected to attend the lecture associated with the lab that they are teaching and/or help the instructor in the proctoring of exams. The teaching associate may be also responsible for helping to clarify course material or course content for students.

Salary:

Current Teaching Associate - Academic Year range: $2,943 - $6,891

Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
