Position:

Assistant Librarian: Temporary Library Faculty position with the possibility of renewal for additional semesters

Starting Date:

On-going. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

1) MLS/MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library institution;
2) Demonstrated knowledge of library information resources (print and electronic);
3) Availability to work evenings and weekends;
4) Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural/multiethnic urban campus environment with a substantial population of first-generation students.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Experience in providing instruction and/or research consultation services to students and faculty;
2) Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their use in the delivery of learner-centered library services and information resources

Duties:

  • Provide in-person instruction for the library’s Introduction to Higher Education credit-bearing courses (LIBR 1010) and be available for office hours;
  • Provide general informational literacy instruction sessions for a variety of disciplines either in-person or virtually;
  • Provide reference/research consultation either in-person or virtually utilizing online tools such as Zoom, chat, email during days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Salary:

The salary schedule information for assistant librarian – 10 month Classification is available based on the following ranges: (per salary schedule 7/1/2022)

Assistant Librarian (Range 2): $4,530 - $6,056
Assistant Librarian (Range 3): $5,405 - $11,994
Assistant Librarian (Range 4): $6,190 - $13,172
Assistant Librarian (Range 5): $7,794 - $13,797

The anticipated hiring monthly range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Most new Assistant Librarians are hired at the Assistant Librarian (Range 2) rank.
