Graduate Assistant for College of Ethnic Studies, Dean's Office

On-going. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate Assistants must be graduate students registered in the CLS or other Cal State LA graduate degree programs and must be enrolled in courses towards the completion of their graduate degree during the appointment period. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.

Preferred Qualifications:

The applicant should be a full-time student and not be employed as a full-time professional (i.e., teacher, social worker). Applicants should demonstrate interests in developing research and/or project management skills, and the ability to contribute to the College of Ethnic Studies and a desire to be mentored by administrators and staff in the Dean’s Office.

Hiring Criteria:

The successful applicant should have a compatible schedule as well as the ability to work virtually on all agreed-upon projects.

Duties:

Under the general supervision and mentorship of administrators and staff in the Dean’s Office, the Graduate Assistant will provide assistance in research, administrative tasks, and organizational responsibilities related to College projects. For example, Graduate Assistants working with College projects might be assigned to gathering content, creating, and editing an electronic College newsletter or assigned to coordinate and communicate across departments in planning a college-wide event.

Salary:

Current Graduate Assistant rate.

Graduate Assistants will work 10 hours per week for 15 weeks each semester for a total of 150 hours per semester.
