Position:

Graduate Assistant for Department of Theatre and Dance.

Starting Date:

On-going. Positions will be filled as needed each semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree-seeking graduate student in the Departments compatible with Theatre and Dance. Graduate Assistants must be currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program. Applicants should possess strong oral and written communication skills, should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated research skills and writing proficiency, as well as an ability to mentor undergraduate students are preferred.

Hiring Criteria:

Students will be selected as Graduate assistants based on the quality of their academic performance, and their demonstrated ability or potential to work effectively and collegially with students, staff and faculty.

Duties:

Under the general supervision of the faculty member, the Graduate Assistant will provide assistance in the instruction of students by conducting small discussion groups related to large lecture course activities; assisting with handling equipment; and clarifying course material or course content for students. The GA will perform clerical or other routine tasks, including grading examinations; recording grades; assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials; participating in the evaluation of students' work; and other related tasks.

Salary:

Graduate Assistant - Academic Year Range, $2,943 - $3,972 [Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience] (per salary schedule 1/1/2023)

This appointment will be for an average of 4 hours per week.
