California Pre-Doctoral Scholars Program (Pre-Doc Program)
The Pre-Doc program is designed to increase the diversity of the pool from which the California State University draws its faculty. It does so by supporting the doctoral aspirations of CSU students who have experienced economic and educational disadvantages. A special emphasis is placed on increasing the number of CSU students who enter graduate programs at one of the University of California campuses. The Pre-Doc program provides travel funds, development funds, and a fully-funded summer research experience. Applications are due February 16, 2024.
Eligibility: Currently enrolled CSU undergraduate and graduate students who will be enrolled in coursework at Cal State LA during the Fall 2024 semester are eligible to apply.
Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP)
The goal of the CSU CDIP is to increase the number of faculty with the qualifications, motivation, and skills needed to teach the diverse students of the CSU. The CDIP prepares promising doctoral students for CSU faculty positions by providing financial support, mentorship by CSU faculty and professional development and grant resources. It is the largest program of its kind in the U.S. Applications are due March 15, 2024.
Eligibility:
- New or continuing full-time doctoral students currently enrolled in an accredited program in the U.S.
- Undergraduate and master's level graduate students in the process of applying to accredited doctoral programs in the U.S. To be awarded a fellowship, applicants must be accepted into a doctoral program by May 31st.
- Students enrolled full-time in doctoral programs who hold full-time or part-time lecturer appointments in the CSU are eligible and encouraged to apply.
