Silvia Martin joined the CBE as an assistant professor of marketing in August 2015. She currently teaches classes in International Business and Marketing Strategy. Silvia wanted to become a professor to make a difference in people’s lives. She says that “as both a teacher and a student, my most satisfying experiences in the classroom have revolved around the powerful impression that, in the strange spell of a discussion or lecture, it is possible to see the world differently.”
Silvia draws her inspiration from her family. Her grandfather was a senator in her home country of Mexico and a Professor of Art History. Silvia’s grandmother was an Accounting Professor. Her mother was a surgeon and an Anatomy Professor, and her father was a Chemical Engineer and a Professor of Organic Chemistry.
Silvia’s favorite quote is, "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. “ – Albert Einstein. Silvia likes sports and spending time with family, and most recently she joined a rock band!
