Danielle Unrein credits her professors in the Cal State L.A. nursing program with displaying passion and professionalism that helped push her to succeed.
“I am inspired daily by the faculty and the passion they have for the nursing profession,” Danielle says. “I have mentors who continue to push me and believe in me.”
She will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, but she plans on continuing her education. She has been accepted into the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Cal State L.A. and will begin working toward her Master of Science in nursing in fall 2015.
For Danielle, the road to a diploma has been filled with challenges. She had to juggle her undergraduate course work and nursing classes while working as a registered nurse. On top of that, her adoptive mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“It ended up being one of the most trying experiences of my life,” she says.
As she prepares to begin the next chapter in academic career, Danielle says her undergraduate nursing program has laid the foundation for success. “It has opened up doors that I never thought could have been possible for me,” she says.
