Golden Eagle student-athletes finish fall with record high CCAA academic awards

A record number of student-athletes from Cal State LA’s five fall sports programs earned conference academic honors, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced this week.

The CCAA named 35 Golden Eagle student-athletes to the 2020 Fall Academic Honor Roll, which celebrates outstanding academic performance by student-athletes at the conference’s 12 member schools.

The recognized student-athletes come from men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball. Volleyball led the way for Cal State LA with 10 recipients, while men’s soccer had eight, women’s soccer had eight, men’s cross country had six and women’s cross country had three.

“We are proud of our Golden Eagle student-athletes for demonstrating their excellence in the classroom,” said Cal State LA President William A. Covino. “Thank you to our dedicated coaches and staff in our athletics program and to our academic advisors for supporting our student-athletes.”
