Cal State L.A. President Covino invited to attend White House education summit hosted by President Obama

President CovinoCal State L.A. President William A. Covino will join President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Biden at the White House College Opportunity Summit on Thursday, Dec. 4.

The summit will bring together officials from colleges and universities, business leaders, representatives from nonprofit organizations and others who are committed to supporting increased college opportunities for students across the country.

The summit will focus on building sustainable collaborations in communities with strong K-12 and higher education partnerships. Summit participants will discuss strategies to encourage students to enter college and support colleges to work together to dramatically improve persistence and increase college graduation rates, especially for first-generation, low-income and underrepresented students.

California State University Chancellor Timothy P. White will be a panelist at the summit. Also attending the event will be Fresno State University President Joseph I. Castro, Cal State Long Beach President Jane Close Conoley, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo President Jeffrey D. Armstrong.
