Cal State L.A. Global Entrepreneurship Week features innovation fair, women leadership panel, startup boot camp

Nongshim noodle company underwrites innovation lab at University

What:   Cal State L.A. to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 17-23, with events and programs to teach, share and develop entrepreneurship. The week-long program is sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the University’s student Entrepreneurial Collegiate Consulting Organization.

When:   Nov. 17-23, 2014.

Where:    Cal State L.A.’s University-Student Union. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Freeways. Public dispenser parking available in Lot 5 or upper level of Structure C. For a map of the campus, click here.

Special programs:   
Mon., Nov. 17: "Celebrating Innovation” - 3:15-6 p.m., University-Student Union, Pasadena Room 307. An innovation fair will showcase student and faculty innovation across campus. Walk-through displays and presentations of cutting-edge design and information will be featured.

Wed., Nov. 19: “Women Entrepreneurs Leadership Panel” – 5-6:30 p.m., U-SU Pasadena Room 307. Panelists Phoebe Beasley, artist, lecturer and entrepreneur; Dimple Thakker, founder/CEO, SYNHERGY MARKETING, LLC; and others celebrate women’s entrepreneurship day and discuss their success and how others can achieve their dreams.

Nongshim Lab rendering Fri.-Sun., Nov. 21-23: “StartUp Weekend at Cal State L.A.” – U-SU Los Angeles Room. Join facilitators Barney Santos and Mylen Yamamoto in an intensive 54-hour learning experience. The event is sponsored by Google for Entrepreneurs to develop ideas, and startup and launch a successful venture. Work with experienced entrepreneurs as mentors and facilitators. Dedication ceremony: 
Tue., Nov. 18: Nongshim Innovation Lab – 10-11:30 a.m., Simpson Tower 121.  A $300,000 investment from Nongshim America noodle company has helped the University's College of Business and Economics launch an innovation lab. The lab will be used to educate and train student entrepreneurs, as well as conduct student-centered marketing and business projects, campus entrepreneurship events, student competitions, and faculty research.
