Ranked No. 6 in AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll

Golden Eagles Garner Four First-Place Votes
LOS ANGELES -- The Cal State L.A. women’s volleyball team will open the 2001 season ranked No. 6 in the country, according to the AVCA Division II preseason coaches poll released this afternoon. The Golden Eagles earned a total of 720 votes, including four first-place nods.

Cal State L.A., the 1999 and 2000 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) volleyball champions, opens the 2001 season on August 24-25 at the UCSD Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. The Golden Eagles will face a tough test on Sat., Aug. 25, when they face 23rd-ranked Metro State and 27th-ranked Regis in back-to-back matches at UCSD.

Cal State L.A.’s home opener in the Eagles Nest is set for Fri., Sept. 14, vs. San Francisco State at 7 p.m. The Golden Eagles also host Sonoma State the following night at 7 p.m. The complete preseason poll is available online at www.avca.org.
