| Cal State L.A.'s Marketing Fraternity Wins National Awards Los Angeles, CA - Marketing majors in the Cal State L.A. chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE), one of the University's most active student organizations, recently won two prestigious national honors, the Western Region and Challenger Awards, at the PSE 43rd Annual National Convention, held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Under the leadership of PSE's president Ahmet Murat Mendi (Bursa, Turkey), student members were able to continue the winning tradition of the Cal State L.A. national marketing fraternity. For the second year in a row, PSE was able to win the Top Western Region Award for best overall interaction and communication between chapters within the region. Chapters within the west include Arizona State University, Cal State Hayward, Cal State Fresno, Boise State University, and University of Hawaii, Manoa. Mendi-the organization's president for two quarters-won the Challenger Award, a traveling trophy presented to an individual who has effectively used the raw principles of the organization and applied them to his or her term within the chapter. Other PSE team members who competed include: Mike Chan (El Monte, senior), Angelina Lee (Los Angeles, senior) and John Soledad (Alhambra, freshman), finalists, Top Sales Project competition; Rebecca Rotar (Burbank, senior), national speakers competition, "Empowerment Through Self Reflection"; and Gavin Lau (Rowland Heights, senior), Mike Chan and John Soledad, Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon competition. Other members who attended and gave their support were Ruth Acosta (Lynwood, freshman), Tami Anderson (Los Angeles, senior), Tony Au (Los Angeles, senior), Brooke Bushey (Arcadia, senior), Julia Chan (Alhambra, junior), Sabrina Louie (Monterey Park, senior), Ronald Yee (Los Angeles, junior), and Lucy Tam (Los Angeles, junior). This year's national convention concluded Tony Au's term as National Council collegiate vice president. Au spent the past year assisting more than 15 chapters in the nation. Pi Sigma Epsilon is a national, professional co-educational fraternity in marketing, sales management and selling.
