Cal State L.A.'’s Eighth Annual
"College: Making It Happen"
Parent Outreach Conference

What& Who:
California State University, Los Angeles will present “College: Making It Happen,” an important educational conference informing parents how to best prepare their middle school-aged children (ages 11-14) for college. There will presentations from different colleges and universities, a parent panel discussion, and a financial aid workshop.

When:
Saturday, March 1, 2003, 9 a.m.-12 noon.
Space is limited to first 500 participants. Pre-registration is required by Feb. 14, 2002.

Where:
Cal State L.A. University-Student Union. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Freeways. Public parking is available in Lot F.

More:
Experts from the CSU and UC systems as well as private universities, community colleges, and federal and state outreach programs will partner to assist parents in planning early to ensure a college education for their children. Spanish and English language programs will be presented simultaneously.

The “College: Making It Happen” conference is sponsored by the Precollegiate Academic Development (PAD) Program. The PAD Program is designed to assist middle school and high school students in acquiring the necessary skills and abilities to succeed in institutions of higher education. We empower students through the development of mathematical competencies, reading comprehension, and writing skills using trained Cal State L.A. student tutors. The PAD Program provides tutoring services to over 2500 students throughout the Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale, and Alhambra school districts.
