Students Selected for Judicial InternshipsLos Angeles, California - July 13, 1998 - California State University, Los Angeles has recently announced the selection of five pre-law students for an internship program conducted with judges from the Los Angeles Superior Court. The Cal State L.A. students selected were Communication Studies major Anahid Barsegian (Glendale), and Political Science majors Pankit J. Doshi (Rowland Heights), Lorena Garcia (Baldwin Park), Colleen M. Contreras (Long Beach) and Maricela Carlos (Los Angeles). The interns will be devoting a minimum of 10 to 12 hours per week for two to three quarters of volunteer observation under the supervision of a judge/mentor. Students will observe the various skills, knowledge and perspectives needed for jurisprudence, and will attain firsthand experience with law as practiced in an urban setting. Only a limited number of highly motivated seniors, interested in a law career, were considered for this internship program. To be eligible, students must be of senior status during the academic year of 1998-99; have a high level of academic success; be enrolled at Cal State L.A. during the period of the internship; and plan to attend law school after graduation.
