Jazz Dance LA to Fete
Legendary Choreographer
JOE TREMAINE in Premier
Jazz Dance Event
at the Luckman Theatre
October 12-13

LOS ANGELES — Jazz Dance LA, in its ninth annual premier jazz dance event, will pay tribute to renowned master teacher and choreographer Joe Tremaine on October 12 and 13 at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex, on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles.

A Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented on Saturday, October 12 to Tremaine, whose illustrious career has taken him from Broadway to a three-year television series, TV specials, movies, nightclub acts and videos. He has coached and choreographed for such stars as Paula Abdul, Diana Ross, Ann-Margret, Goldie Hawn, Vicki Lawrence and Olivia Newton-John.

Jazz Dance LA 2002 showcases the art of jazz dance through the individual works of the hottest dancers and choreographers in Los Angeles. The concert is under the direction of influential dance teacher and choreographer Hama, founder of Jazz Dance LA in 1994; and Artistic Director Claude Thompson, past recipient of Dance Resource Center’s Lester Horton Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement. A special highlight this year will be the restaging of “ZZYZX,” choregraphed by Tremaine in 1979.
