Cross Country Runners Named
to All-CCAA Conference Team

Golden Eagles finish fourth
in team standings at CCAA Championships

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A. juniors Maija Rohde (Fallbrook, Calif./Fallbrook/U.S. Air Force Academy), Pilar Delgado (Maywood, Calif./Hawthorne/Glendale CC) and sophomore Karla Alburez (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall/L.A. City College) earned All-CCAA Conference honors and Cal State L.A. finished in fourth place as a team at Saturday morning’s CCAA Conference Championships at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

Rohde finished in eighth place overall with a 6K (3.72 mile) time of 22:20 with Delgado in 11th at 22:36 and Alburez in 15th at 22:45. UC San Diego’s Miriam Hodgins won the conference individual title in 21:31 with Cal State San Bernardino’s Tanya Zeferjahn runner-up at 22:04.

Other Golden Eagle individual finishers were Shawna Burger (26th, 23:22), Ana Juarez (36th, 23:44), Linsey Vanzant (54th, 24:35) and Elizabeth Lugo (56th, 24:40).

As a team, Cal State L.A. finished in fourth out of 11 teams with 89 points, the Golden Eagles best team finish since 2000. UCSD won the team title with 28 points followed by Chico State at 55 and Cal Poly Pomona just ahead of CSULA with 88 points. Cal State L.A. now prepares for the NCAA West Regionals, slated for Sat., Nov. 5, at Prado Park in nearby Chino.
