Cal State L.A. University-Student Union Presents "Woman In Bloom"

What & Who:
The University-Student Union at Cal State L.A. presents Woman In Bloom art exhibition and reception. During the event, Mary H. Hyun, a prominent Los Angeles artist and Cal State L.A. alumna, will be honored for donating a series of paintings entitled Woman In Bloom to the University-Student Union.

When:
Thu., May 6, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Where:
Cal State L.A. University-Student Union Los Angeles Room. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Freeways.

Artist:
The paintings that Hyun will be donating to the University-Student Union are acrylic on canvas, synthesizing traditional batik dyeing (batik, derived from the Malaysian term meaning "resisting process") with fluid, minimalist design and composition. Hyun's triumph over conventional expectations is exemplified in Woman In Bloom where the artist uses the labor-intensive batik dyeing process in conjunction with the formal qualities of minimalist abstraction.

More:
Special dedications and presentations to Hyun will be made by the University-Student Union, Cross Cultural Centers, Cal State L.A. Alumni Association, and other organizations in appreciation for her donations as well as her artistic achievements.
