LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A. senior Caryn Sale (Middle Blocker, Mission Viejo, CA/Capo Valley) has been named to the 2001 AVCA All-Pacific Region Team, it was announced this afternoon by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

This is Sale’s third selection to the All-Region team, having earned the honor in 1997 and 1999. She becomes the only Golden Eagle ever to earn AVCA All-Region honors in three seasons and is one of only four Cal State L.A. volleyball players to earn more than one All-Region nod. CSLA’s other two-time All-Region honorees are Adriana Huerta (1994-95), Kaili Kimura (1994-95) and Linda Saucedo (1998, 2000).

In 1999, Sale was the CCAA Conference Player of the Year and a second-team AVCA All-American. She also earned three first-team all-conference honors (1997, 1999, 2001) and led the Golden Eagles to the NCAA Tournament in those same three seasons.

Sale now advances to the national ballot for All-America consideration. The Division II AVCA All-America team is expected to be announced on Fri., Nov. 23.
