Petition to Withdraw

NOTE: Poor academic performance or poor time management is NOT justification for withdrawing from classes.

  • Students may withdraw from most classes during the first two weeks of instruction without record of enrollment by dropping the class via GET. After that time, students should complete all courses in which they are enrolled.
  • The university authorizes withdrawal after the first two weeks of instruction and prior to the last three weeks of instruction only for serious and compelling reasons and, for undergraduate students, the class units will be applied towards the Undergraduate Withdrawal Limit of 18 units.
  • Students may not withdraw during the final three weeks of instruction except in cases, appropriately documented, such as accident or serious illness, where the assignment of an Incomplete is not practicable.

Regular Withdrawal Period starts on 3rd week and ends on 12th week of instruction. Review "Dates and Deadlines" at :https://www.calstatela.edu/registrar/

When are you withdrawing?
Permitted only for serious and compelling reasons, such as a personal or family crisis.
Permitted only with documented physical or mental health conditions of the student or a close family member, or documented major life events or changes , such as job transfer, military deployment, a natural disaster, etc.
Only possible when the cause of withdrawal is due to circumstances clearly beyond the student's control, such as documented physical or mental health conditions of the student or a close family member, or documented major life events or changes , such as job transfer, military deployment, a natural disaster, etc.
