Grade Appeals/Academic Grievances

Students can initiate a grade appeal based on

1. a clerical error,
2. capricious or prejudicial evaluation,
3. inconsistent or inequitably applied standards
4. a finding of academic dishonesty
5. a case of discrimination or harassment  based on legally protected status and/or related retaliation 

But first, students must attempt to resolve the issue informally with the Instructor and the Department Chair/Associate Dean in writing, within twenty (20) days of the beginning of the next term (excluding summer). If you are unable to resolve the problem with your Instructor and Department Chair/Associate Dean you can file a formal grade appeal with our office no later than the end of the academic term (excluding summer) following formal notification of the decision or grade. Please review the due dates and deadlines below to ensure your grade appeal is reviewed by the University Academic Appeals Board.
