About me...

Hi, I'm Soo

I would like to welcome every one of you to CalState LA, Department of Computer Science. I graduated from Cal State LA, and I am grateful to be one of Cal State LA  Alumni.

Education

  • B.S., California State University Los Angeles
  • M.S., University of California Los Angeles
  • Ph.D., University of California Los Angeles

My Professional Experience

Cal State LA, Computer Science Department has been my intellectual and professional home for the past quarter-century. The Department has educated and nourished me; I now want to do what I can to ensure that it will continue to educate and nourish students. As an undergraduate, I learned that persistence and hard work produce results—and I was honored to receive the award as Outstanding Senior in 1997. The education I received here and the self-confidence the Department helped me develop encouraged me to continue to earn Computer Science MS and Ph.D. degrees at UCLA. My breadth and depth then enabled me to work professionally in a wide range of positions in the City of Los Angeles. I came back home as a part-time lecturer in 2014 and became an assistant professor in 2019. Over the past few years, I have established warm and successful relationships with faculty and students at both the Department and college levels. My goals are to extend and deepen those relationships and to help make the Department increasingly welcoming and supportive for those who teach and study here.

My Interests

My research interests are on the Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical systems, wireless networking, wireless sensor networking, and software engineering.  Also, like most of you, I love programming, solving problems, and building components.
