I am the Hazel Jean Waldrop Endowed Assistant Professor of Marketing in the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at Cal State LA. 

I am passionate about preparing students for careers in sales and marketing. I have received awards for my teaching and coaching such as the  “Innovative Educator”, “Rising Star”, “Bank of America Endowed Professorship”, and "Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student" awards. Recently, the sales team that I coached won first place ($6,500 prize) at the California State University Sales Competition (CSUSC), beating out formidable schools with prominent, long-standing sales programs. My former students whom I have personally coached and mentored are highly ranked within their sales firms. Many of them have earned Rookie of the Year and President’s Club (or equivalent) awards. These students sell for large, prominent B2B firms such as AT&T, Gartner, Cisco (Meraki), Waste Management, CDW, and Johnson Controls. 

My academic research includes topics on sales coaching, marketing strategy, and digital marketing. I have published in the Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Marketing Education, and Business Forum. I have received numerous awards for my research such as JPSSM’s “Honorable Mention for the 2020 Marvin Jolson Award for the Best Contribution to Selling and Sales Management Practice”, JME’s “Outstanding Article of the Year for 2019” award, and the CBE’s “Most Promising Research” award. 

My current focus is on growing the sales program at Cal State LA. This involves expanding the sales curriculum, increasing our corporate sponsorship and partnership networks, and competing in sales competitions.
