
Dr. Nguyen is an Assistant Professor of Marketing in the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at Cal State LA.
He is passionate about preparing students for careers in sales and marketing. He has received awards for his teaching and coaching such as the “Innovative Educator”, “Rising Star”, “Bank of America Endowed Professorship”, and "Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student" awards. Recently, the sales team that Dr. Nguyen coached won first place ($6,500 prize) at the California State University Sales Competition (CSUSC), beating out formidable schools with prominent, long-standing sales programs. His former students whom he has personally coached and mentored are highly ranked within their sales firms. Many of them have earned Rookie of the Year and President’s Club (or equivalent) awards. These students sell for large, prominent B2B firms such as AT&T, Gartner, Cisco (Meraki), Waste Management, CDW, and Johnson Controls.
Dr. Nguyen's academic research includes topics on sales coaching, marketing strategy, and digital marketing. He has published in the Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Marketing Education, and Business Forum. Dr. Nguyen has received numerous awards for his research such as JPSSM’s “Marvin Jolson Award for the Best Contribution to Selling and Sales Management Practice”, JME’s “Outstanding Article of the Year for 2019” award, and the CBE’s “Most Promising Research” award.
