In this WellBeingU discussion, Dr. Portia Jackson Preston will explore key stressors that students, staff, and faculty are facing as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, racial and social injustice, and increasing equity gaps. Participants will have an opportunity to examine their current practices for coping with stress and learn about tools to develop a self-care plan. The discussion will focus on how self-care can be used as a tool to engage in healing, foster resilience, and navigate a path forward that is illuminated with hope.
Dr. Jackson Preston is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at California State University, Fullerton, where she researches multilevel approaches to self-care, and examines racism and other stressors as drivers of health inequity.
