For almost five decades Mummenschanz’s non-verbal theatrical language has continued to develop independently of the contemporary mask-theatre quintessence. The stories told by Mummenschanz are completely visual: no musical tracking, no stage set. The artists use their bodies, objects, and masks that evolve against a black background to compose a playful paralanguage that can be understood by all.
Since its successful three year run on Broadway, Switzerland-based theater troupe Mummenschanz has pioneered a new form of visual theater that has since spawned multiple new genres reclaiming their legacy. By creating a playful yet compelling experience through the inventive use of shadow, light, and creative manipulation of objects, Mummenschanz offers timeless insight about the human condition. You & Me brings to life the large scale masks you’ve grown to love, as well as reviving a historic tradition of acrobatics. The show will also include some of the classic sketches that have stood the test of time. Their soundtrack is the awe, joy and laughter that audiences experience and have grown to love for nearly 50 years.
