The Luckman Project is an annual collaborative project headed by an internationally recognized visiting artist/curator who guides a number of outstanding students selected from the Department of Art at Cal State LA. The project culminates in an exhibition held at the Luckman Gallery at Cal State LA. The Luckman Project allows for the development of a thematic platform that is suitably wide enough in scope to be applicable to the diverse range of artistic interests of the participating students. This project is a unique educational experience that provides the selected students the opportunity to enhance and develop their artistic practice through their engagement with an experienced practitioner.

Visiting artist: Mark Steven Greenfield is former director of the Watts Towers Arts Center and Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. Greenfield graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from Cal State LA in 1987 and his paintings and drawings have been exhibited across the United States and in Europe and Asia. Much of his work has focused on the African American experience and has been credited with helping promote dialogue on issues of race and equality. http://www.markstevengreenfield.com/about/.
