The Cal State LA Latin American Studies Society and Latin American Studies program in collaboration with the platform O Istmo and Centro Cultural Techantit, presents its first colloquium dedicated to the histories, experiences and peoples of Central America and the Caribbean. This colloquium will consist of panels and workshops that focus on topics of diaspora and human rights, with a focus on the arts and cultural production. The keynote speaker on Thursday is Melissa Cardoza, a leading Afro-Honduran feminist artist and activist. On Friday, the keynote will be the Brazilian-Salvadoran scholar and journalist Aleksander Aguilar Antunes and there will be a discussion with the award-winning Guatemalan hip hop artist Rebeca Lane.
