Description
This is the 20th anniversary of the John Lion New Plays Festival. Under the leadership and mentorship of Cal State LA professor and renowned playwright, José Cruz González, student-written original plays are developed and directed by invited professional directors for full main-stage premieres. This year's selections are:  
  • Being an American by Ye Ju Choi, MFA in TVFT ('17), directed by José Cruz González
  • The Lightness and The Dark or How Everyone Misses Amanda: A Not So Subtle Allegory by Sigrid Gilmer, created from the work generated by Cal State LA students: Maricar Alba, David Alvarez, Karen Arana, César Ramirez-Gamiño, DaTrice Hamilton, Darsy Hernandez, Nayla Hull, Grace Murphy, Bre'anna Patterson, Yanitze Pimentel, Khaleana Reanne, Sahib Singh, Coryne Turner, directed by Randee Trabitz
  • Rosado by Nicole Santiago, MFA in TVFT student, directed by Sara Guerrero
