Cal State LA’s Center for Contemporary Poetry and Poetics welcomes Naomi Shihab Nye as our 2022 reader for the Jean Burden Poetry Series. An author of more than 30 books for both adults and children, Nye’s work is informed by her Palestinian American heritage, the cultural diversity of her home in Texas, and her conviction in the optimistic power of poetry. Her work as a poet, essayist, editor of anthologies, and author of children’s literature has received every kind of accolade.
