Description

In Celebration of National Poetry Month, the Center for Contemporary Poetry and Poetics is proud to bring you Cantaluz – Sing light!

Around the mid-'90s, five L.A.-based women poets of color organized Cantaluz. Gloria Alvarez, Jiseh James, Nancy Padron, Amy Uyematsu, and Pam Ward felt the need for writers of color to work together. Alvarez, James, Uyematsu and Ward will be reuniting for this event. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is sponsored by the Center for Contemporary Poetry and Poetics, Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Center for the Study of Genders and Sexualities, College of Arts and Letters and the Department of English.
