Description

The Cal State LA University Library is excited to invite you to the opening reception of "The 20/20 Experience: Impact of COVID-19 on the Cal State LA Campus Community," a student-curated online exhibition featuring selected works from The Pandemic Diaries Project. The project aims to create an archive of digital diaries that capture the narratives and life experiences of our campus community during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The 20/20 Experience will focus on how the Cal State LA community, especially students, have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The exhibit will showcase artifacts and information regarding the virus itself, public health and the history of past health crises on campus. Core topics include racial and social inequality, mental health concerns, job loss, the impact on culture, the changes in family dynamics and the challenges of adapting to a new virtual environment.

Join our student curators of Cal State LA Special Collections & Archives and invited guests as they discuss the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the student population and the education system. By sharing our collective stories in this exhibit, Cal State LA can experience an important moment of healing, empowerment and unity at a time we feel distant from one another.

View the full exhibit online after May 4. The link will be shared after the opening reception.

Registration for the event is required. Participants must abide by Zoom etiquette.
