Description

Cal State L.A.’s Art History Society presents the 2015 Mesoamerican Symposium, entitled “In the Realm of the Vision Serpent: Decipherments and Discoveries in Mesoamerica,” which will feature highly regarded keynote speakers and prominent experts. The symposium is dedicated to the life and work of renowned scholar of Maya art and writing Linda Schele. She was at the forefront of the decoding of Maya hieroglyphics and made lasting contributions to the evolution of that field.

As part of the symposium, there will be a special Mesoamerican Art Exhibit, entitled “Eternal Realms of Revelry,” curated by Dr. John Pohl, featuring pre-Columbian art from the M.A.W. Collection. Opening reception: Friday, April 10, 7 to 9 p.m., at the University’s Fine Arts building in the Fine Arts Gallery.
