In [in]VISIBLE FLOWS: water and light streams in Poaceae family, cutting-edge research from the Scoffoni Lab at Cal State LA explores how grasses adapt to drought through diverse photosynthetic strategies. Supported by the National Science Foundation, this research investigates the hydraulic mechanisms behind their resilience to climate change.
Inspired by this scientific inquiry, artist Antía Iglesias creates works integrating living plants and advanced imaging techniques like micro-CT scans. Blending art and science, her pieces reveal the hidden flows of light and water within Poaceae, highlighting the deep interconnections between human and non-human systems.
In a world facing ecological crises, the exhibition invites us to reconsider survival, adaptation, and the unseen forces sustaining life.
This exhibit is curated by Antía Iglesias and Marion Boisseaux.
Exhbit hours: Tuesday through Friday: 12 p.m. — 5 p.m.
