NASA’s ‘Destination Station’ exhibit docks in Los Angeles
What: NASA will enable a live discussion between students at Cal State L.A. and the Expedition 38 astronauts aboard the International Space Station via televised downlink on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 9:30 a.m.
Summary: The live event is organized as part of NASA’s “Destination Station,” a new multimedia exhibit at the California Science Center showcasing what it’s like to live aboard the International Space Station. The exhibit is free to the public through April 7.
A group of students from Cal State L.A. Professor Adel Sharif’s engineering class and the Alliance Marc and Eva Stern Math and Science School will have an opportunity to ask NASA flight engineers Rick Mastracchio and Mike Hopkins, and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Koichi Wakata about the progress of their mission aboard the space station. The program will begin with remarks by Emily Allen, dean of the University’s College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology, and Becky Kamas, lead education specialist in NASA's Teaching From Space.

The International Space Station is an internationally-developed research facility located in Earth’s lower orbit. It is the largest space station ever constructed. It serves as a research laboratory where astronauts from around the world conduct experiments in human health and exploration, technology testing for enabling future exploration, research in basic life and physical sciences, and Earth and space science.
Expedition 38 began with the undocking of the Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft in September 2013, with another crew later arriving aboard the spacecraft November 2013, which will complete its mission next month.
