What Else Do You Need To Know?

Change of Major

You may NOT change your major prior to attending Orientation. This means you will need to attend the Orientation session that corresponds to the major you selected at the time of your admissions application. As a freshman, if you know that you are planning to change your major, please inform your academic advisor during the course registration portion of the Orientation day for additional assistance.

Course Registration and Tuition Payment

New freshmen will register for classes on their Orientation date. Students must pay all tuition fees prior to registering for classes. Additionally, all active registration holds must be resolved prior to your Orientation date. Some possible causes for registration holds may include:
  • Incomplete Financial Aid documents
  • Incomplete Admissions verifications/documents
  • Incomplete/missing test score information
  • Unpaid balance for tuition and fees
You can use your Student Portal to pay your tuition and check for holds. To access your portal, you will need to have activated your myCalStateLA Identity Account. Use the Tuition and Fee Payment Calculator tool on GET to help calculate your total tuition cost.

Course Counseling/Advising

Individual academic counseling/advising is not available. All advising/counseling takes place in a group setting. Be sure to complete the Online Pre-Orientation, and take advantage of the resources found at the links above. Bring any questions about classes you have with you, in order to get the most out of your group advisement appointment.

Final Transcripts

The official transcript deadline is July 2019. All final, official transcripts must be submitted to the Office of Admissions before this date. Late transcripts will NOT be accepted. Eligibility for enrollment will be determined using coursework completed and listed in these transcripts. Failure to meet the admission requirements and all related enrollment deadlines will make you ineligible to enroll for fall 2019. For more information about submitting documents, please visit this page.
