Information Technology Services Units

Information Technology Services is comprised of three service-based units that support the University's ever-increasing use of current and emerging technologies.


CMS and Enterprise Systems

CMS and Enterprise Systems contributes to the installation, upgrades, application development and technical support for the campus administrative systems - Financials (general ledger, asset management, grants), Human Resources (employee records), Contributor Relations, Student Financials, Financial Aid and Student Administration (admissions, student records, Campus Community and academic advisement).

This unit has technical oversight for the University web presence and custodianship of the ITS website. They are also responsible for development and delivery of both the student and the faculty/staff myCSULA Portal. Additionally, ITS video and graphic communications are developed in this unit.


IT Infrastructure Services

IT Infrastructure Services provides services ranging from technical architecture and design, to configuration and support of the wired and wireless networks, servers, campus e-mail, telecommunications and desktop services. These services are delivered to a diverse constituency of students, faculty and staff, and user support for these services is provided by the ITS Help Desk.

In addition, they maintain the ITS software archive, distribute site license software, install and maintain the equipment available in the Electronic Classrooms (ECs), Technologically Enhanced Classrooms (TECs) and Media Enhanced Classrooms (MECs) located throughout the campus.

This unit is heavily involved in architecture, configuration, testing and deployment of all ITS technical projects, including those supporting the Student Success Fee.


IT Security and Compliance

The University President has decreed that information security is everybody's responsibility. To support this directive, IT Security and Compliance serves as the administrative and educational entity that ensures the use of information technology and information assets at Cal State L.A. adheres to all state and federal statutory regulations and requirements, CSU information security policy, and University standards and guidelines.

For the campus-at-large, this unit develops and publishes standards and guidelines to inform departments and individuals about respective information security requirements; ensures audit compliance; reviews and approves user access requests; oversees all campus information security programs required by law; provides information security awareness for students, faculty and staff; and investigates information security incidents.

Internally, the unit oversees risk assessment, mitigation and acceptance for the division; ensures compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations in accordance with published ITS standards and user guidelines; ensures compliance with information security programs relevant to the division; maintains a disaster recovery plan for decentralized systems within the division; and maintains the divisional business continuity plan.
