New housing designed for student success set to open fall 2021

March 28, 2019

Cal State LA will soon have traditional-style student housing with communal spaces, study rooms, wellness areas and many other amenities that promote student success on campus.

Student Housing East, an eight-story facility offering 1,500 beds for freshmen and sophomores, is currently under construction and expected to open fall 2021.

“Every angle of the building was designed to meet the academic, social and personal needs of incoming college students. They will have increased opportunities to build relationships, connect with the campus community and focus on their studies,” said Vice President for Student Life Nancy Wada-McKee.

Located on Lot 7 next to the existing housing complex, Student Housing East will give students the option of staying in double or triple occupancy rooms. A limited number of singles will also be available.

There will be a residential dining facility, a health and wellness zone that will include a yoga, workout and meditation room, and a learning center with study rooms, classroom space and music practice rooms.

The current apartment-style residential facilities in Phases I and II and the Golden Eagle Apartments will continue to house upper division and graduate students.
