The Cal State LA Nursing Alumni Network exists to support the mission of the California State University, Los Angeles and the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing in their efforts to transform individual lives and build stronger and healthier communities through scholarship, research, and proactive community engagement. We also serve the alumni through establishing opportunities to reunite, engage, and network with a community of nursing professionals in order to contribute and advance the art and science of the profession of Nursing.
Dr. Tayyeb is a United States Navy Veteran, having served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with Naval Medical Center San Diego, 1st Marine Division, and 3rd Marine Division. After his military service, Dr. Tayyeb pursued his career as a Registered Nurse, earning his Bachelors and Masters degree in Nursing from California State University, Los Angeles and his Ph.D. from the University of San Diego. Dr. Tayyeb’s experiences in the healthcare field include combat trauma, emergency medicine, education, Human Patient Simulation, professional development, Leadership, Veterans healthcare, and policy.
Dr. Tayyeb is a Jonas Veterans Health Scholar Alumni and is currently an Assistant Professor at California State University, Los Angeles. His interests in Veterans related research include: Transition from military service, Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Depression, Alcohol and Drug abuse, Pain, Suicide, Family environment, Disenfranchisement, Policy, Advocacy, Culture, Veteran Benefits & Reintegration.
Tammy is a double alumna from Cal State LA. She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing in 2015 and worked as an Oncology Registered Nurse at PIH Health. In 2019, Tammy earned her Master of Science Degree in Nursing with a Nursing Education option. As the current RN Clinical Educator at PIH Health, Tammy oversees the clinical orientation, in-service training, and professional development of nine medical/surgical units housing all new graduate RNs. Her passion for teaching and love for learning has allowed her to explore the incredibly rewarding world of academia. Tammy is an active member of professional organizations such as: Sigma Theta Tau, the Professional Nurse Development Council, and the Nursing Professional Practice Council. She also volunteers as a Pre-Operative RN with One World Surgery and is the Vice President of Modern Enlightenment, a non-profit organization serving homeless communities in Los Angeles.
