Mission

The Entertainment and Arts Alumni Network fosters and supports a dynamic community of alumni in performing, visual, film, television, and media arts. The purpose of the network is to build bonds of camaraderie among alumni and to champion lifelong involvement with Cal State LA. Through its events and activities, it serves as a resource for graduates to maintain mutually beneficial relationships, advance career goals, and support our shared passion for our respective crafts.

All alumni, current students, staff, and faculty are invited to join any of our alumni networks.

Mya C. Taylor (’20), Chair

ARRAY

Mya C. Taylor is a dynamic entertainment industry professional with expertise in production coordination, publicity, and leadership. In her previous capacity as assistant to the senior vice president and vice president of current programs at Paramount Studios, Mya serves as the primary production contact and communication hub for a wide slate of projects, including Watson, Everybody Still Hates Chris, Young Sheldon, The Equalizer, CSI: Vegas, and more. Additionally, Mya worked in Paramount’s publicity department, contributing to high-profile events including the Grammy Awards, the Emmy Awards, press junkets, and screenings.

An advocate for emerging talent, Mya is the founder and former chairwoman of the Paramount Support Staff Writing Club and a finalist in the 2025 CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge. She is also past chairwoman of the City of Pasadena's Youth Council. 

Mya received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from the College of Arts and Letters in 2020. With a passion for storytelling, mentorship, and production strategy, Mya continues to make a meaningful impact in the entertainment industry while building a pipeline to help students and emerging professionals successfully launch their careers.

October 12, 2023

The Entertainment and Arts Alumni Network held an exclusive industry discussion with the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, featuring NALIP Executive Director Diana Luna and CSU alumni Ian Cabalo and Jose Medina Rodriguez. This insider chat was facilitated by Ligiah Villalobos Rojas, writer and executive producer of the feature film "La Misma Luna" and assistant professor for the Cal State LA Television, Film, and Media Studies Department.

For more than 20 years, NALIP has served the needs of Latine and diverse content creators, including producers, performers, writers, directors, and industry professionals. This was a special opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals on how you can leverage resources, networking, and mentorship to propel your career into the executive suite and beyond.

The Entertainment and Arts Alumni Network and CSU Entertainment Alliance hosted an industry chat with the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC), featuring Brenda Victoria Castillo, President and CEO of the Coalition, Cal State LA alumnus Cruz Castillo (’15), and CSU alumnae Felicia Mora and Leila Rezvani. This exclusive discussion was facilitated by Dr. Kristiina Hackel, Chair of the Cal State LA Television, Film, & Media Studies Department.

Attendees learned firsthand how NHMC educates and increases Latinx visibility through their policy work in Washington, DC and their media advocacy work in Hollywood, helping to shape society's attitudes, values, and beliefs toward Latinx communities.

This exclusive conversation was facilitated by Dr. Kristiina Hackel, Chair of the Cal State LA Television, Film, & Media Studies Department.

Attendees learned how the stories creatives choose to tell in entertainment media send a specific message about who matters most in our culture. These industry experts also covered data that shows how inclusiveness can be good for business.
