The Education Alumni Network fosters and supports a diverse community of leaders in education. The purpose of the network is to build bonds of camaraderie among alumni and to champion lifelong involvement with Cal State LA. Through its events and activities, it serves as a resource for graduates to stay connected, advance career goals, and support our shared passion for teaching and learning.
Ileana Davalos, ’86, ’93
Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer, Los Angeles Unified School District
Ileana is a double Cal State LA alumna earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development in 1986, and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration in 1993. Ileana serves as Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer at the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she oversees the Human Resources Division for the District and directs talent management strategy for Certificated staff made up of teachers, principals, and support personnel. Prior to this position, she served as the Director of Professional Learning and Leadership Development, where she delivered programs aimed to develop principals and other community professionals in education. She is also involved with organizations such as the Council of Mexican American Administrators, Association of Mexican Educators, and the Association of California School Administrators. Her husband, Victor, is also a Cal State LA alumnus and a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) police captain.
Jose Rodriguez, ’98, ’02
Administrative Coordinator, Los Angeles Administrative Services Credential (LAASC) Program, Los Angeles Unified School District
Jose M. Rodriguez, is an Administrative Coordinator, with the Los Angeles Unified School District where he coaches and supports, administrators, by building their capacity as leaders for responsibilities associated with high-need schools. As a site administrator, he worked diligently to instill a strong sense of direction for all students and ensure that demographics did not determine destiny.
Jose prides himself in preparing individuals for their next leadership role. He would like to strengthen the Education Alumni Network to support alumni and students, addressing the advancement of their professional aspirations He is a double Cal State LA alumnus, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 and Master of Art degree in 2002. He was also granted a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Southern California in Educational Leadership. His wife is also a Charter College of Education alumna of Cal State LA.
