There are many scholarship opportunities available for anthropology department students

Here are a few different resources to the various on and off campus opportunities for student scholarships and aid:

David Miller Scholarship in Anthropology

David Miller served as a key administrator at Cal State L.A. from 1958 to 1974.  At the time of his retirement, he was the Dean of Instructional Administration and had held positions as Director of Continuing Education and Assistant to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs.  He was trained as a historian at Mexico City College (now the University of the Americas) and the University of Michigan.  Because of his great love of Anthropology and time spent in Mexico, he endowed a scholarship fund for Anthropology students.

All full-time Anthropology majors and graduate students with a 3.0 G.P.A. who submit the General Scholarship application will be considered for this award. The deadline for submission of the General Scholarship application is currently in the first week of February.  Students are urged to check with the Center for Student Financial Aid Office located in the Administration Building Room 124 or on their web page to verify the deadline. An application includes:

  • The General Scholarship Application (three copies: the original and two copies)
  • The Letter of Recommendation Form
  • At least one letter of recommendation
  • An Essay
  • Academic transcripts if you are a new student (i.e. first semester graduate student, transfer student or high school senior.
